PAUZA is the Havana-based duo of Paula Fernández and Zahira Sánchez, often described as Cuba’s first female electronic music duo. The two met in 2012 at the island’s only workshop for aspiring women DJs, run by the Laboratorio Nacional de Música Electroacústica, and began working together straight away. Their productions fold Afro-Cuban percussion, Yoruba chants and Havana street sounds into house and tech house, with releases on Get Physical, including Yo Soy Cubano, and on Flamenca Records. The single Muy Bien featuring Malone held the number one spot on Beatport and Traxsource for four months. Residents of Fábrica de Arte Cubano in Havana, they have shared bills with Swedish House Mafia, Blond:ish, Mochakk and RÜFÜS DU SOL.
